Written in 2019 for the John Halford piano competition. It won first prize.

 

The piece is a collage of different ideas inspired by splicing different phrases and idioms onto each other i.e.

"Curiosity killed the cat" and "Burst your bubble" become "Curiosity killed Your Bubble".

This piece was originally written for Violin, Harp and Double Bass. Mikey's friend and fellow composer Samuel Pradalie made this arrangement, changing the harp part to an oboe. The performance was for Colab 2020, a festival that takes place every February at Trinity Laban.
